Continuing on from our list of the Top 32 Best Value for Money Golf Courses in Ireland, we now move into a new tier — 30 courses with midweek summer green fees between €76 and €150.

This group includes some truly exceptional venues, including major championship hosts like Mount Juliet, Killeen Castle, Fota Island, Lough Erne, and the South Course at the K Club. These are part of a new generation of commercial championship courses that have largely replaced - but not surpassed - more traditional layouts such as Cork, Shannon, Malone, and Royal Belfast as headline parkland venues. Many other classic inland courses - like Athlone, Mullingar, Carlow, Portumna and Tramore - were already included in our sub-€75 list.

As for links golf at an affordable price it is a mixed bag. Carne Golf Links, specifically the Hackett Links, is in my and many others opinion, the best golf course in Ireland. And that has nothing to do with the green fee! Amazingly, Carne makes it to our list of courses under € 150.

Four other links, in addition to Rosslare, Arklow, Dunfanaghy and Corballis that are in the under €75 list, are added here. These are Portsalon, The Cashen Course at Ballybunion, Strandhill and St. Anne's and together with Carne it is unfortunate that they as geogrpically spread as the top trophy courses!

Links Courses (€76–€150)

There aren’t many true links courses left in this price bracket — most now sit firmly in the €200+ range — but there are still a few standout options.

Carne Golf Links

Without question, Carne is the star of this entire list — a world-class links that plays through dramatic dunes on the remote Belmullet Peninsula in County Mayo. It’s the best course in Ireland and, remarkably, it still charges less than half of the top trophy links. As a golf course and a golf experience, Carne beats them all, even before the price is considered.

Cashen Course at Ballybunion

Often overshadowed by its older sibling, the Cashen Course is a wild, unconventional links that delivers a thrilling round. It’s currently undergoing a major three-year renovation and will reopen in June 2025. Once it’s back in full swing, expect prices to climb — a shame, as the Cashen has long been one of Ireland’s most underrated links.

Portsalon Golf Links

A traditional links originally laid out by Old Tom Morris, Portsalon is in a spectacular setting and has enough quality and character to earn its place in the upper ecehelons of Irish links courses.

Strandhill Golf Links

Continuous improvement is a watchword of the members at Strandhill and their efforts are producing fruit. Set beneath Knocknarea Mountain and looking out across the Atlantic, Strandhill is as scenic as links golf gets. It’s quirky, compact, and full of character — and while not long or conventional, it offers a fun, memorable round at great value.

St. Anne’s Golf Links

Located at the northern end of Bull Island in Dublin Bay (with Royal Dublin at the southern end), St. Anne’s is a flat but authentic links. It may lack variety and towering dunes, but it’s still a proper test of links golf — and at more than €100 less than its Dublin neighbours, it’s easy to justify.

Parkland Courses (€76–€150)

This category is where the depth in quality of Irish golf really shines. Some of the parkland layouts have become fixtures on the international stage, while others offer older timeless and elegant design.

Mount Juliet

A long-time Irish Open venue and host of the 2002 and 2004 WGC American Express, Mount Juliet is one of the most prestigious parkland courses in Ireland. Impeccable conditioning, a Jack Nicklaus design, and a classy setting near Kilkenny.

Killeen Castle

A modern championship layout built, as a signature Nicklaus course, around a stately castle, Killeen Castle hosted the 2011 Solheim Cup and now ranks among the best inland courses in Ireland.

Fota Island

Former host of the Irish Open and one of the finest parklands in the south of Ireland. Beautifully maintained, with a resort feel and excellent facilities. Just a stones throw away from Cork Golf Club, also on this list.

Lough Erne

A dramatic Faldo design on the water’s edge in County Fermanagh, Lough Erne is a five-star experience at a surprisingly accessible price.

South Course at The K Club

While the Palmer North (Ryder Cup) course grabs the headlines, the South Course is a worthy alternative — well-designed, enjoyable, and significantly better value.
